IN THE WEEKS AFTER POLICE SHOT JACOB BLAKE AND THE VIOLENCE THAT FOLLOWED. PLYWOOD AND CHARRED RUBBLE STILL SCAR PARTS OF DOWNTOWN KENOSHA OWNERS TOLD US IN THE PAST THEY’RE NOT SURE IF THEY’LL REBUILD. >> IT’S JUST ALL GONE. WE CAN’T EVEN GO INSIDE. EVERYTHING IS JUST RUINED. BEN: NOW, A NEW GRANT PROGRAM FROM NON-PROFIT DOWNTOWN KENOS INC, WILL TRY TO REBUILD AND REOPEN BUSINESSES. $250,000 WILL GO TO INDIVIDU STORES, FOR DAMAGE REPAIR, HELP WITH RENT AND COVERING GAPS IN INSURANCE COVERAGE. A Kenosha nonprofit is offering a quarter of a million dollars to help Kenosha businesses damaged during the aftermath of the Jacob Blake shooting.


A Kenosha nonprofit is offering a quarter of a million dollars to help Kenosha businesses damaged during the aftermath of the Jacob Blake shooting. Downtown Kenosha Inc. raised the money to help business owners with damage repair, rental assistance and stop gaps with insurance claims. “We know that this grant fund differs from other funding initiatives DKI has traditionally deployed. Business Improvement District boundaries do not affect this grant’s process or merit in any way. Our focus is specifically directed to those businesses that suffered physical damages and loss from Kenosha riots,” executive director Alexandria Binanti said.Early estimates show the damage from the Kenosha unrest could be as high as $50 million. Kenosha police Officer Rusten Sheskey shot Jacob Blake Aug. 23 while responding to a domestic violence call.
