Model Portfolios Can Achieve Investment Goals | Financial Advisors

Previous generations turned to financial advisors mostly for stock picking. Later, advisors began custom crafting portfolios using mutual funds.

That era of laser-focused attention on custom portfolios was a far cry from today’s emphasis on planning and asset allocation. This industry-wide shift means customized portfolios are becoming less important, while model portfolios are used more often.

Model portfolios are constructed with a diversified blend of stocks and bonds. They’re also designed to accommodate various levels of risk tolerance.

In addition to diversification and risk mitigation, model portfolios generally offer automated rebalancing and often a third-party management team, with extensive research and analysis capabilities.

“Model portfolios are the Ikea furniture kits of investing. If you want a certain uniform standard, they can be a reasonably reliable choice. However, if you’re looking for exceptional craftsmanship or customization, that’s not really what they’re designed for,” says Richard Barrington, senior financial analyst at MoneyRates.com.

Money-saving food shop tips that will make you healthier

A LOT of people will relate to the parents in the first two episodes. You know the drill: you spend time preparing a delicious, nutritious meal, only for the kids to turn their noses up at it as soon as they sit at the table. Out of desperation, you end up giving them the dishes you know they will eat. In the first two episodes of Eat Well For Less, the parents often resort to ultra-processed dishes or takeaways just to make sure the kids get some food down them. But Chris and Gregg suggest a change of tack. By getting the kids involved in making the dishes and teaching them how to follow a recipe, they feel more invested in the dish and are excited to eat it and get positive feedback.

We also see them quickly adapt to healthier snacks rather than shop-bought confectionery. Chris tells us: “Lots

WKHS (NASDAQ:WKHS), the struggling electric van maker, has ridden a massive wave of investor optimism this summer. WKHS stock is up about 650% as investors have piled into the money-losing company.

But don’t let these gains fool you. Workhorse remains the weakest company among all U.S. electric vehicle (EV) makers. The company also has some of the worst self-dealing management I have ever encountered in my years of investing.

But if you’re comfortable investing with an unscrupulous management team, here’s why WKHS stock may still rise.

Extra Sessions bringing live music back

With the live music as we know it prohibited under government restrictions, Extra.ie has relaunched the Extra Sessions, a series of gigs available to watch online taking place at venues nationwide.

Gigs will be streamed on the Extra Sessions page at 8pm every Thursday for the next 11 weeks, starting tonight (September 10) with Mary Coughlan and followed by the likes of Picture House and Jafaris.

‘At Extra.ie we have hired the acts and engineers for exclusive performances for our audiences,’ DMG Media Ireland CEO Paul Henderson said. ‘Lamenting the demise of the Irish music scene, and suggestions that musicians should retrain, is not good enough. We need to back the dreamers. Life without music is no life at all.’

Can Job Training Close the ‘Opportunity Divide’ Post-Pandemic?

Roughly one in five U.S. workers are collecting unemployment benefits, and as coronavirus case numbers surge across the country, job prospects seem slim for many. Even before the pandemic, nearly 28 million Americans were unemployed or underemployed due to a lack of relevant job training, a lack of education, or simply a lack of access to pipelines for better paying and more stable positions.

Would-be workers aren’t the only ones who lose out when talent is left on the table. Entire communities are affected when residents struggle to find gainful employment, and businesses face unavoidable long-term risk if workers are not equipped with the right skills to fill vacant positions once employment levels return to normal.

Investing in job training offers long-term benefits for communities and employers

Investment in job training within historically underserved communities is a key lever companies can use to bolster their own pipelines while bettering the

Today, millions of Americans are much more worried about paying their credit card bills than taking a vacation. Now, Citi has created a new program to allow customers to use their rewards just to pay off some of their card’s balance.

“Typically, cardholders could redeem points as a statement credit but would still have to pay the minimum due,” Citi explains. But Citi is now offering a temporary point redemption opportunity that gives customers the option of redeeming cash rewards or ThankYou Points to pay the minimum due.
